考研英语

　　真题词汇在单词的形式、考察的释义上都有别于考研英语大纲词汇，所以在复习考研英语的时候要特别注意一下真题中的词汇，它们的复现率在85%左右，通过对真题单词的复习，可以很好地应对2016 考研英语中的大部分单词。

　　★ stability

　　n.稳定，安定

　　【例】Political stability is essential to economic prosperity.政治稳定是经济繁荣的必要条件。

　　【派生】stable a.稳定的 unstable a.不稳定的，不稳的

　　★ startle

　　v.惊吓，使吃惊

　　【例】Beat the grass and startle the snake.打草惊蛇。

　　【构词】start(出发，惊起)+le→使吃惊

　　【同义替换】astound, frighten, alarm

　　【派生】startling a.令人震惊的;惊人的 startled a.震惊的，受惊吓

　　★ statistical

　　a.统计的，统计学的

　　【例】Statistical data pertaining to state secrets must be kept confidential.属于国家机密的统计资料，必须保密。

　　【派生】statistically ad.统计地，统计上的 statistics n.统计学

　　【真题】Super high scores like Vos Savant’s are no longer possible, because scoring is now based on a statistical population distribution among age peers, rather than simply dividing the mental age by the chronological age and multiplying by 100. Vos Savant测得的智力再也不可能出现了，因为评分标准是根据同年龄中人口分布统计数据而制定，而不是简单根据时间年龄除以智力年龄，再乘以100。

　　a.陡峭的;险峻的;急剧升降的

　　v.浸泡，沉浸

　　【例1】The weather continued rough, and the roads were often steep and heavy.天气还是很恶劣，道路经常是又陡又难走。

　　【例2】She steeped the stained cloth in bleach overnight.她把有污迹的衣服在洗衣粉里浸了一夜。

　　【派生】steepen v.(使某物)变陡，变得更陡峭 steepish a.较陡的，有点陡峭的

　　【真题】In such a case, the company’s response may not be sufficiently quick or thoughtful, and the learning curve has been steep.当这种事情发生的时候，如果企业的回应不够快或不够积极，那么学习曲线就会变陡(就可能酿成悲剧)。

　　★ stimulate

　　v.刺激，使兴奋;激励，鼓舞

　　【例1】It failed to stimulate a surge of investment in industry.这没能刺激工业投资的激增。

　　【例2】Your encouragement will stimulate me to further efforts.你的鼓励会激发我进一步努力的。

　　【构词】sti(=sting刺激)+mul+-ate(动词后缀)→使刺激

　　【同义替换】motivate, inspire

　　【派生】stimulant n.刺激物，兴奋剂(to sth.) stimulating a.刺激性的;起激励作用的
