考研英语

　　常规单词积累一定要集中在2016考研英语复习的前期，否则后面无论考研英语阅读复习还是翻译复习的开展都会有困难。同时，考研英语单词记忆不能只记中文释义，要掌握其常见用法，固定搭配，并且在能力范围内利用词根触类旁通。

　　★ rank

　　n.军衔，社会阶层

　　v.分等级，把……分类

　　【例1】The officer was acquitted by a higher court and had his rank restored to him.那位军官被高院无罪释放并恢复原军衔。

　　【例2】We freely exchange opinions and ideas around here, regardless of rank relationship.我们在这里可以自由地交换观点和想法，用不着考虑上下级关系。

　　【同义替换】degree, classification, grade

　　【派生】ranker n.士兵 rankings n.排名，排行

　　★ vicinity

　　n.邻近，附近

　　【例】In the vicinity of an active volcano, the soil is rather fertile.活火山附近的土壤非常肥沃。

　　【构词】vicin(临近)+-ity→附件，临近

　　【同义替换】neighborhood, proximity

　　★ characteristic

　　a.(of)特有的，独特的

　　n.特征，特性

　　【例】Arrogance is one of his less attractive characteristics.骄傲自大是他的一个缺点。

　　【同义替换】character, trait, feature, distinction; typical, special

　　【派生】characteristically ad.典型地

　　★ dissolve

　　v.(使)溶解，(使)融化;解散，取消

　　【例1】The salt can be dissolved in the water.盐在水中会溶解。

　　【例2】All his hopes dissolved at the terrible news.听到那个坏消息，他的一切希望都破灭了。

　　【构词】dis-(分开)+solve(放松)→松开→溶解;解散

　　【同义替换】dismiss, solve

　　【派生】dissolvent n.溶剂 dissolver n.溶解装置

　　★ gratitude

　　n.感激，感谢

　　【例】She felt eternal gratitude to him for saving her life.她终生感激他的救命之恩。

　　【构词】grat(高兴)+-itude→感激

　　【同义替换】appreciation, thanks

　　【真题】It is fair to criticize and question the mechanism—that is the culture of research, after all—but it is the prize-givers’ money to do with as they please. It is wise to take such gifts with gratitude and grace.批评和质疑奖项机制无可厚非，毕竟这是研究文化的一部分。但这些设立奖项的人想怎么花钱都行。明智的做法是以感恩的心态优雅地接受奖金。

　　★ juvenile

　　n.青少年，少年读物

　　a.青少年的，幼稚的

　　【例1】He is an expert in juvenile delinquency.他是研究青少年犯罪的专家。

　　【例2】Stop being so juvenile!别再那么孩子气了!

　　【构词】juven(年轻)+-ile(……的)→少年的

　　【同义替换】young; teenager
