“No suh, I don’t think he did.”
“Don’t think, what do you mean?”
“I mean I didn’t stay long enough for him to run me off.”
“你是被尤厄尔先生撵走的吗，小伙子?”
“不是的，先生。我想不是。”

“You’re very candid about this, why did you run so fast?”
“I says I was scared, suh.”
“If you had a clear conscience, why were you scared?”

“不是，先生，我是怕法庭，就象我现在这样。”
“怕被逮捕，怕受到对你犯下的罪行的指控?”
“不，先生，我怕受到对我没有犯过的罪行的指控。”
“Are you being impudent to me, boy?”
“No suh, I didn’t go to be.”
“你敢这样对我无礼吗，小伙子?”.
“没有，先生，我不打算对您无礼。”
